Some of the most important projects of my career were born during moments of greatest professional uncertainty. I was honored to see our paper cited in the recent review "Biobanking Biodiversity: Recent Strategies, Challenges, and Opportunities." Every citation represents much more than a metric. It is evidence that knowledge continues to be built upon what we produce and share. This is one of the most rewarding aspects of science: ideas connecting, evolving, and inspiring new discoveries. This review paper had a particularly unique origin. It was conceived during a period when my RHAE technological development fellowship was interrupted while I was working in an industry setting, outside academia. Rather than allowing that challenge to slow our progress, I suggested to a talented collaborator that we transform the ideas, challenges, and discussions emerging from our company's projects into a scientific publication. With this goal in mind, I invited researchers from the University of São Paulo to contribute their expertise to the project. The result exceeded our expectations and created value for everyone involved. Beyond advancing knowledge in the field, the paper proved especially relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic, when biobanking and biological sample preservation became increasingly important for research and public health. Experiences like this have reinforced my conviction that impactful scientific research can thrive beyond academic institutions. With collaboration, strategic planning, and a commitment to knowledge generation, it is possible to continue publishing meaningful science regardless of the professional environment. I remain firmly convinced that it is always possible to prioritize scientific publication, even outside the academic environment, and to advance knowledge through collaboration and sound research planning. 📚 Recent review: https://lnkd.in/d-SjnX_m 📖 Original paper: https://lnkd.in/dUJcGkpk 🇧🇷 A Portuguese version of this post is available in the comments. #ScientificResearch #ResearchLeadership #LifeSciences #Biobanking #ResearchCollaboration #ScienceCommunication #Innovation #KnowledgeSharing #WomenInScience #CareerJourney
