Half facts, half suspicions, half things people told me over coffee (yes, thatโ€™s three halves, maths is not the point here). Hereโ€™s a sample from the box: - Crime stats often spike right before they go down in an area targeted by police. Real clean-up or just crime packing its bags and moving next door? -Parks after dark = nope. Officers donโ€™t even go in alone. Always at least a pair. That should tell us something. -Accidentally witnessing a drug deal? Apparently, not the safest hobby. Knives, paranoia, and people who donโ€™t want an audience. -Surprise! Westminster, usually tops the charts for crime. Theft, violence, nightlife chaos. People always say โ€œbut I thought it was my area!โ€ Nope, sorry. -Domestic abuse within the police force is a real issue. Stress? Maybe. But plenty of stressful jobs donโ€™t come with the same rates. Or maybe itโ€™s the kind of job some people with power issues are drawn to? -Blue lights in public bathrooms arenโ€™t a vibe choice. Theyโ€™re meant to make veins harder to see, to discourage injecting drugs. Anyway. Thatโ€™s what rattled around in my head today. If you work in the field and think any of this is wrong - please do correct me. I enjoy a good disillusionment every now and then. And because we all deserve something adorable after thisโ€ฆ hereโ€™s the New Zealand police recruitment video: โ€œDo you care enough to be a cop?โ€ https://lnkd.in/eGuyg3pY
