Half facts, half suspicions, half things people told me over coffee (yes, thatโs three halves, maths is not the point here). Hereโs a sample from the box: - Crime stats often spike right before they go down in an area targeted by police. Real clean-up or just crime packing its bags and moving next door? -Parks after dark = nope. Officers donโt even go in alone. Always at least a pair. That should tell us something. -Accidentally witnessing a drug deal? Apparently, not the safest hobby. Knives, paranoia, and people who donโt want an audience. -Surprise! Westminster, usually tops the charts for crime. Theft, violence, nightlife chaos. People always say โbut I thought it was my area!โ Nope, sorry. -Domestic abuse within the police force is a real issue. Stress? Maybe. But plenty of stressful jobs donโt come with the same rates. Or maybe itโs the kind of job some people with power issues are drawn to? -Blue lights in public bathrooms arenโt a vibe choice. Theyโre meant to make veins harder to see, to discourage injecting drugs. Anyway. Thatโs what rattled around in my head today. If you work in the field and think any of this is wrong - please do correct me. I enjoy a good disillusionment every now and then. And because we all deserve something adorable after thisโฆ hereโs the New Zealand police recruitment video: โDo you care enough to be a cop?โ https://lnkd.in/eGuyg3pY
