Namibia’s Kudu Gas Project highlights one of the biggest challenges in offshore gas development: getting gas from reservoir to market. Unlike oil, gas needs a fully connected value chain — offshore production, subsea pipelines, processing facilities, power generation, transmission infrastructure, and long-term demand security. That is why Kudu faces a longer and more complex commercialisation path. The resource is valuable, but the route to market requires major investment, coordination, and clear domestic energy planning. For Namibia, Kudu could still become a strategic energy asset — supporting power generation, industrial growth, and energy security if the infrastructure puzzle is solved.
