Excited to share that our latest article has been published today in Frontiers in Fungal Biology 🎉📄 In this work, we provide strong evidence confirming the association between cassava witches’ broom disease (#CWBD) and Ceratobasidium theobromae in insular Southeast Asia, while also supporting the taxonomic identity of the pathogen as C. theobromae 🔬🧬 These findings challenge the long-standing assumption of a phytoplasma etiology and contribute to a clearer understanding of the causal agent of CWBD, with important implications for diagnostics and disease management 🌱📊 This research is part of ongoing efforts at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT to address CWBD as an emerging threat to cassava production, where integrated and collaborative approaches are critical 🌎✨ This work also contributes to my doctoral research at Universidad del Valle (CO), focused on understanding the microevolutionary dynamics of C. theobromae populations 🧩📈 https://lnkd.in/eYAJXi-r Cris Cortaga Juan Manuel Pardo García Ana maria Leiva Imran Malik Jonathan Newby Wilmer J.
