Chicken skin. Ham. Alcohol gels. Cutting it off completely. People have tried some unusual ways to beat alcohol monitoring technology. A recent article from The Sun shared a few examples after journalist Josh Saunders tested the SCRAM CAM alcohol monitoring tag being used as part of the Ministry of Justice’s World Cup violence prevention efforts. It is easy to laugh at the methods. But for justice agencies, this is exactly why alcohol monitoring has to be built for real world behavior. Participants do not always comply neatly. Risk does not only happen during office hours. And sobriety conditions are only as strong as the data agencies can act on. Continuous alcohol monitoring like SCRAM CAM helps provide visibility over time, not just at a single testing moment. It helps teams detect alcohol consumption, review possible tamper events, and respond based on defensible information. That is what modern accountability requires. We’ve seen it all, and we’re prepared. What does “real world compliance” look like in your program?
