Europe’s aluminium recycling story is growing stronger, but the numbers expose a tough reality. Recycling rates are moving above 80%, demand is approaching 8 million tonnes, and yet scrap exports have surged by nearly 66%. That means Europe is collecting more recyclable aluminium, but a rising share is leaving the region instead of feeding local low-carbon production. This is no longer just a recycling issue.
