One river. Hundreds of years of history. Countless reasons to protect it. 🌊 June is National Rivers Month, and we’re celebrating the Rivanna River — one of our region’s most valuable natural resources and a favorite spot for kayaking, fishing and enjoying the scenic water views. The Rivanna’s 766-square-mile watershed supports wildlife like bald eagles, osprey and even the endangered James Spinymussel. About 65% of the watershed is forested, helping naturally reduce pollution runoff and support water quality throughout the region. We’re grateful for organizations like the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, Rivanna Conservation Alliance and Rivanna River Basin Commission that help protect and preserve this river for future generations. 💧 What’s your favorite way to enjoy the Rivanna River? ⬇️ 📸 Rivanna River Company
