10 Years in the Books 10 years. 3,652 days. Who would have thought? A LOT has changed since March 2016! When I joined, Okta was a small SaaS "identity startup" largely unknown, especially in the public sector. Fast forward to today, and we’re the only independent identity platform leading the way in securing AI agents and supporting the most complex, regulated environments on the planet. In the Beginning I spent my first few years at Okta building our US Public Sector partner GTM strategy from scratch. The first huge milestone was getting our partnership with Carahsoft off the ground in 2016, which got us onto the contract vehicles we needed—GSA Schedule 70, SEWP, Texas DIR, and the rest. Along the way, I’ve been humbled to work with some extraordinarily talented people and partners like Blackwood, V3Gate, Deloitte, and Active Cyber. In this industry, people often stay for a "short but high-impact" stint, and I’ve learned so much from the brilliant Oktanauts who have spent time here and left their mark on our culture, and helped customers succeed in their mission. The Work Family But for me, Okta has been personal. I’ve made great friends here—the kind where you watch colleagues get engaged, married, start families, hear about their kids doing hat tricks and move through college. It’s a true work family. One of the biggest highlights was when Okta and my manager, Ralph Figueiredo, backed me 100% when I decided to move my life to the mountains in Utah. That kind of support is rare, and it’s a testament to Okta’s core culture. What’s Next? These days, I’m continuing my focus on our AWS partnership for the Federal and SLED space. The conversations have changed to address the expanded core services that Okta offers, but one thing remains more important than ever: Cybersecurity still starts with Identity. I’m fired up about the unique spot Okta is in to own the identity piece of the AI revolution. To all my past and present colleagues and partners who have been part of my last ten years: Thank you.
