On this Day Frederick Roberts (Sept 14, 1879-Jul 19, 1952), great-grandson of Sally Hemmings, was a Los Angeles businessman & civic leader. Elected to the California State Assembly in 1918, he was the 1st Black in the west to hold such a position. #brownhistory #brownhistory365
