🔋 Santas BAT: construction has officially started! We are proud to announce the start of construction of the Santas Battery project in Portugal, a key milestone in strengthening grid stability and accelerating the energy transition. Located in Borba, in the Alentejo region, this project is a battery energy storage system designed to hybridize the existing Santas solar PV plant, combining solar generation and storage to maximize the value of renewable energy. The project includes: • 80 MW of power • 220 MWh of storage capacity The battery’s storage capacity corresponds to around 5 hours of electricity supply for a city the size of Évora. By storing solar energy produced during the day and releasing it when electricity demand is higher, Santas BAT will enhance the flexibility and resilience of the Portuguese power grid while enabling a more efficient integration of solar energy. Commissioning is expected in the second quarter of 2027. The project also benefits from European public funding, highlighting its strategic role in the development of sustainable energy infrastructure in Portugal.
