With the passing of Jürgen #Habermas, a son of #Düsseldorf, Germany has lost its most renowned philosopher of the post‑war era. He succeeded the pre‑war and exile generation of #Adorno, Hannah #Arendt, and Walter #Benjamin, and worked on how modern #democracies can #function rationally, such as the #EuropeanUnion > “In order to be able to speak with one another in any meaningful way, we must assume that understanding — and with it truth, sincerity, and justice — can in principle be achieved through communication.
