A full house of 130+ students, the creator of Python in the room, and an energy we won't forget anytime soon. This Tuesday we welcomed Guido van Rossum to the AISO stage for a fireside chat, something that had been 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗢. Hosting the person whose work shapes how millions of people write code today, in front of our community, genuinely felt like a full circle moment. A few things that stood out to us: 💡 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 The early days of Python at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, the timing that made it take off when the internet did, why connected infrastructure mattered more than people remember, and his honest take on where AI tooling is heading. He spoke about 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁. 🎙️ 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 Huge credit to Jiaqi C. for the energy, the humour, and the preparation. He pushed past the questions you can find in any interview online and spoke to Guido about the topics our community actually came to hear. The room felt it. 🍻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 The networking drinks afterwards were one of the warmest we've had. People were queuing for photos with Guido, conversations stretched well past the official end time, and you could feel that this one mattered to people. 🤝 Thank you to Amsterdam AI, our trusted partner from day one, thank you for making this possible. A special thanks to Geert Wissink for being there with us! This is exactly the kind of moment we built AISO for. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻.
