AirTrunk to double down on its Malaysia investment Today, we announced plans to develop two new hyperscale data centre campuses in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The new campuses, JHB3 and JHB4, will add more than 280MW of IT load, taking AirTrunk’s total capacity in Malaysia to over 700MW across four campuses and bringing our total committed investment in the country to around USD6.8 billion. This week, AirTrunk CEO and Founder Robin Khuda met The Honourable Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Malaysia to discuss our shared priorities. “Our confidence in Malaysia comes from the strong partnership we have with the Malaysian Government and local stakeholders, who have supported us every step of the way,” Robin Khuda said. The development is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs during construction, along with ongoing roles for local talent once operational, and strong partnerships with Malaysian suppliers and contractors. Our Malaysia campuses are purpose‑built for high‑density cloud and AI workloads, with a strong focus on energy efficiency and advanced cooling systems that use 100% recycled water. We’re also committed to delivering local community impact, including support for STEM education and digital literacy, water replenishment, and disaster resilience and response initiatives with our local partners such as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Gravity Water, Water Watch Penang and MERCY Malaysia. Our existing Malaysian campuses, JHB1 and JHB2, are almost fully contracted and tracking well ahead of plan, and we are already planning further expansion in Malaysia beyond JHB3 and JHB4. Following these developments, AirTrunk will scale to more than 3.3GW of operating and planned capacity across 22 campuses in six regions: Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and India. We’re proud to be making a long-term commitment to Malaysia; and advancing digital infrastructure while delivering lasting benefits for communities and the wider region.
