RENEWABLE ENERGY I AirTrunk has switched on a 1MW rooftop solar system at JHB1 in Johor, Malaysia. Delivered with Pekat Group Berhad, the system complements our landmark 30MW virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme, enabling new renewable capacity to be added to the grid. Together, onsite generation and long‑term clean energy procurement are embedding sustainability into how we design and operate hyperscale campuses. Pei Jet (PJ) Lim, VP and Country Head, Malaysia said: “The rooftop solar system at JHB1 is a key step in AirTrunk’s renewable energy progress in Malaysia. Along with our VPPA and reduced energy consumption through liquid cooling, this project supports the energy transition as we continue to grow in Malaysia.”   George Varikos, Energy Transition Project Lead, said solar needs to be applied thoughtfully in data centres - not just added on. “When integrated with load profiles and resilience needs, solar isn’t about firm supply, but long-term operational and commercial resilience. Done right, it can significantly cut grid reliance and emissions while supporting energy security for high‑availability assets.”   These investments reflect our commitment to taking responsibility for our energy use and supporting a more resilient, sustainable energy system in Malaysia.   #AirTrunk #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #DataCentres #Hyperscale #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #Malaysia #NetZero
