#Mishandledbaggage costs the airline industry around $5 billion a year, according to IATA. 41% of mishandling occurs during transfers, where timing and coordination are tightest and peak-window pressure compresses every process to its breaking point. Tracking has helped. IATA reports a 67% reduction in mishandling rates since tracking efforts began, with 44% of airlines fully implementing Resolution 753 and another 41% in progress. In-airport visibility is now the baseline. The next step is extending that same predictability to the journey before the airport. #BaggageasaService does that work. When a bag is collected from a passenger's home or office and introduced into the baggage system earlier on a predictable schedule, the operational gains stack: • Earlier injection reduces exposure to peak processing windows where mishandling concentrates • Operations teams gain time to identify exceptions and intervene before bags miss their flights • Passengers can be confident that their bags enter the system on time and arrive as expected Predictability is what connects the passenger experience to operations, and nowhere is that more evident than in the baggage process. Offering certainty and reliability at the precise points where stress can build is an effective lever for loyalty.
