Rising congestion, high handling costs, and the growing financial impact of mishandled baggage are straining airline operations. Terminal-based baggage processes remain resource-intensive and difficult to scale, particularly during peak travel periods.   In a recent interview with Travel and Tour World, our CEO, Randel Darby, explains how #BaggageasaService shifts part of the baggage handling process off-airport. By collecting bags from homes, hotels, or city locations ahead of departure, airlines (and airports) can better control how and when baggage enters the system, easing congestion and improving operational flow and the passenger experience.   Looking ahead, baggage handling is expected to continue evolving toward more distributed, off-airport models, becoming a core part of how airlines operate rather than an add-on.   The discussion also explores the commercial upside. An increasing number of passengers are willing to pay for convenience, turning baggage from a cost centre into a source of incremental revenue, while earlier handling reduces the likelihood and cost of mishandling bags. Looking ahead, distributed, #offairport models are becoming part of how airlines structure their baggage operations beyond the terminal.
