May 2, 1961 - the first flight of the Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter multipurpose aircraft. #Switzerland Pilatus Aircraft developed the PC-6 Porter general purpose aircraft in the late 1950s. Customers quickly appreciated its short takeoff and landing capabilities. At this time, the development of turboprop aviation was underway. Pilatus did not stand aside and released an updated PC-6 Turbo Porter. The design remained unchanged - a high-wing aircraft with a non-retractable landing gear. The main difference from the PC-6 Porter is the turboprop engine. The first aircraft were equipped with Turbomeca Astazou IIE (523 hp), later ones - Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-27 (550 hp) Cruising speed (for PC-6 B2 Turbo Porter) - 213 km / h, flight range - 730 km. Took on board up to 10 passengers. The aircraft had excellent speed and control characteristics. Operated in many countries around the world, including the Air Force (Algeria, France, Austria, Peru, etc.) The last PC-6 Turbo Porter was released in 2019. #aircraftstudies
