⭐ EXCLUSIVE: From Hostomel to Leipzig/Halle Airport: How the European base of Ukrainian aviation operates ⭐ The full-scale war has fundamentally changed the conditions in which Ukrainian aviation operates. For Antonov, the state-owned aircraft manufacturer and operator of oversized cargo aircraft, this has meant not only the loss of access to its core infrastructure in Ukraine, but also the urgent need to rebuild the entire logistics system supporting fleet operations. Hostomel, a key hub for transport aviation, ceased to function as an operational base. Part of the equipment was destroyed, while the infrastructure was significantly damaged. Yet Antonov aircraft did not disappear from the skies. Antonov Logistics SALIS GmbH, a subsidiary of Ukraine’s JSC Antonov, was established to support cargo air transport operations, including under NATO’s SALIS programme, Strategic Airlift International Solution.
