For years, the airfreight sector has focused on improving execution through data integration, visibility tools, and interconnected platforms. Investments have poured into connecting carriers, forwarders, and shippers with the aim of creating seamless operations. Yet missed deliveries, margin erosion, and operational failures persist, showing that the industry’s long-standing focus on execution has addressed the wrong part of the workflow. Every shipment that arrives late, every service failure, and every margin shortfall stems from decisions made long before a plane even leaves the ground. The real failure occurs not during shipment execution, but at the moment commitments are made, when quotes are issued, often before all operational constraints are fully visible or aligned. “Airfreight doesn’t break during execution. It breaks at the moment of commitment, when the right information hasn’t been fully considered. Every downstream issue, from missed deliveries to margin leakage, stems from a decision made before all constraints are fully understood,” Chris Condon, Founder and CEO of Aircon, said.
