Healthcare PE firm Altaris, LLC is acquiring Simulations Plus, Inc., a global leader in AI-accelerated drug development software, for $375 million in cash at $18.50 per share, a 26% premium to the company's 60-day average share price. The deal is expected to close in Q4 2026, after which Altaris plans to combine Simulations Plus with Chemical Computing Group, its existing portfolio company providing computer-aided molecular design software for pharma and biotech. Founded 30 years ago in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, Simulations Plus provides modelling and simulation software used by major pharma companies, biotech firms and regulators across drug discovery, development and regulatory submissions. New York-based Altaris manages more than $9 billion in equity capital and has previously acquired companies across digital health, health imaging and generics, with this deal marking its latest push into AI-driven biopharma tools.
