In an increasingly complex world, how can we become more socially resilient? 🤔 Have you ever noticed that two people can look at the exact same situation and come away with completely different truths? That's exactly what researchers explored in the new cociety study. And honestly, it explains quite a lot about the world we live in right now. 🤝The study examines how people interpret the same information differently. When people from diverse backgrounds engage in dialogue on societal conflicts and explore them from different professional perspectives, it strengthens their openness, critical thinking and sense of responsibility – all of which are essential factors in building our collective resilience. As friends and supporters of cociety, the Aid by Trade Foundation is contributing to this broader discussion on dialogue, trust and social cohesion. 👉The findings resonate strongly with what we experience in our own work. Across global textile supply chains, farmers, herders, brands, retailers, policymakers and consumers often look at the same challenges through very different lenses. Whether the topic is sustainability, livelihoods, animal welfare, climate resilience or traceability, perspectives are shaped by different realities and priorities. Building resilience therefore requires more than data, standards and systems. It also requires dialogue. It requires listening to different perspectives, creating mutual understanding and finding common ground between stakeholders who may start from very different realities.
