A year ago, I was learning surgery from slides. Last week, I stepped into the room as a contributor. At the Lancashire Surgical Society Annual Surgical Conference 2026: Precision in Practice held on 21st March 2026, I had the privilege of presenting my research: “MIGS Versus Trabeculectomy: A Systematic Review Evaluating Surgical Efficacy, Safety, and Operative Burden” I’m honoured that this work was recognised with Runner-Up in the Poster Presentation. But more than the award, this experience marked a shift — from absorbing knowledge to actively questioning it, from observing medicine to beginning to shape my place within it. Through hands-on workshops in tendon repair, laparoscopy, suturing, cystoscopy, plastic surgery grafting, and CSF-related procedures, I was reminded that surgery is not only precision and skill, but also curiosity, resilience, and continuous learning. Grateful for every conversation, every challenge, and every moment that pushed me forward. This is only the beginning. #Medicine #Surgery #MedicalStudent #SurgicalResearch #FutureDoctor #WomenInMedicine #MedicalConference #Research #StudentSuccess #Healthcare #ClinicalSkills #MedLife #Inspiration
