It’s Treasury Tuesday and this week we are taking a look at the latest Morning Comment. Markets got off to a relatively quiet start this week, with investors taking stock after the US holiday weekend. While European equities edged lower, US markets closed higher, helping to maintain a broadly positive tone. From a data perspective, Eurozone retail sales came in slightly weaker than expected, while producer inflation surprised marginally to the upside. Overall, the releases had little impact on markets, with major currency pairs continuing to trade within relatively narrow ranges. Sterling was modestly firmer overnight, with EUR/GBP moving below the mid-point of its recent trading range, while GBP/USD held steady above the $1.33 level.
