Writers, journalists, and visual artists are consistently named as the most exposed to AI disruption. The usual story ends there, replacement, redundancy and job losses. But exposure doesn't mean disappearance. 8 principles suggest how. In the early months of 2025 Mozilla Foundation and the Berggruen Institute brought 91 creatives from Hollywood together to ask what genuine collaboration between them and AI could look like. In October a report was published distilling those conversations into Hollywood's 8 Rules for AI, a framework for building tools that sustain rather than strip human creativity.Ā  The eight rules that emerged are worth reading slowly: 1. Build for process, not just output 2. Encourage randomness and glitchiness 3. Keep friction in the creative flow 4. Protect lineage and give credit 5. Put human purpose at the centre 6. Make AI transparent and conversational 7. Value deliberate slowness and depth 8. Design for the whole creative ecosystem Which of the 8 Rules do you think the industry is furthest from actually implementing? šŸ‘ Congratulations to the team including: Gabriel Kahan, Hannah Ismael, Laura Ryan, Ziyaad Bhorat, and all 91 Imaginative Assembly pioneers, creatives, dreamers, and builders who made this work possible. šŸ“Š Sources: Mozilla Foundation, Berggruen Institute
