📣 Announcing the first keynote speaker for this year's summit on September 30th: We are excited to welcome Prof. Dr. Pierre Gentine to give the keynote for our focus topic "AI for weather and climate modeling"! Join us for his inspiring talk on “Lost (and found) in latent land: how latent spaces can improve our prediction and understanding of weather and climate“. 🌊 Pierre Gentine investigates the continental hydrologic cycle using multi scale modeling and big data (machine learning, remote sensing, high-resolution turbulent simulations) in the context of rising CO2 concentrations. He hopes to answer questions such as “What will be the future of droughts and extreme dryness/precipitations with a changing climate, and how will they impact ecosystems?” 🎓 Pierre Gentine is a professor at Department of Applied Mathematics and Applied Physics at Columbia Engineering since 2010. He received numerous prices and early career awards, including the NASA, DOE, and NSF Early Career Awards, as well as American Geophysical Union Macelwane medal. 📝 His recent work spans improving the representation of clouds in climate models, improving simulations with measurement data (data assimilation), and differentiable solvers for fluid dynamics. He is also co-founder of Celest.Science. ➡️ Sign up to our mailing list to get notified when registrations open! https://lnkd.in/di-vHRGP Learn more about the event @ https://lnkd.in/d7fWEwxN Thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible!
