SpaceX's valuation balloons to $2.6T and briefly passes Amazon SpaceX briefly became the fifth most valuable company in the world this week, nearly overtaking Microsoft, after news broke that it is acquiring AI coding company Cursor for $60 billion in stock. The valuation spiked as high as $2.9 trillion before settling back down. The numbers behind this are wild. SpaceX posted a $4.9 billion loss on $18.7 billion in revenue last year. Amazon made $78 billion in profit on $717 billion in sales. Yet SpaceX has added roughly $1 trillion in valuation since going public just days ago, largely on the promise that it can build an AI business worth trillions, backed by non-binding compute deals with Anthropic and Google. Only 4% of SpaceX's total shares are available for trading, which is exactly why the stock is swinging this hard. Over 300 million shares changed hands Tuesday alone, more than half the available float. The market is pricing in a future that has not been built yet. #SpaceX #IPO #AI #ElonMusk #Cursor #StockMarket #TechNews
