Robots just beat the human world record at a Beijing half marathon A humanoid robot built by Chinese smartphone maker Honor finished the Beijing half marathon in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, faster than the human world record of 57 minutes. That is a staggering improvement from last year when the fastest robot finished in two hours and 40 minutes. About 40% of the robots competed fully autonomously including the winner. The remaining 60% were remote controlled. One robot fell at the starting line. Another hit a barrier. Progress is not always graceful. Comparing robots to humans in a race is not exactly apples to apples but the year over year improvement is the real story. Going from 2 hours 40 minutes to 50 minutes in twelve months is a serious leap in bipedal locomotion. Physical AI is compounding fast. #Robotics #HumanoidRobots #AI #PhysicalAI #China #TechNews #Innovation
