We are proud to share that Ahold Delhaize’s first European virtual Power Purchase Agreement is now live, marking another step in our plan to reduce electricity emissions. The agreement supports a new solar farm in Seville, Spain, helping bring more renewable electricity to the grid. In total, the solar farm is expected to generate 515 GWh of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the annual electricity usage of approximately 132,000 households. This milestone reflects how we are turning our sustainability ambitions into action. By supporting the development of renewable energy projects, we are making progress toward more sustainable operations and contributing to a greener energy system across Europe. The Spanish vPPA is part of our wider renewable electricity approach, alongside Power Purchase Agreements in the Netherlands, Romania and Finland. Together, these projects support Ahold Delhaize’s overall net-zero carbon emissions strategy and our ambition to reach net-zero carbon emissions across our own operations by 2040. In 2025 we achieved a 39.1% reduction in absolute CO₂-equivalent emissions from scope 1 and 2, compared to the 2018 baseline.
