📢 New Publication in Cleaner Environmental Systems 🎉 I am pleased to share our latest publication: "Decision-support analytics for material selection for production tooling: A systematic review and multi-objective optimisation of biocomposites" Published in the journal Cleaner Environmental Systems. This work addresses a critical challenge faced by manufacturers: how to select sustainable materials while balancing technical performance, environmental impact, and economic constraints. 🔍 Our contribution combines: A systematic literature review to identify and critically analyse existing decision-support approaches, sustainability indicators, and material-selection methodologies used in biocomposite engineering; • Advanced Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods to integrate heterogeneous quantitative and qualitative criteria and support transparent material ranking; • Multi-objective optimisation techniques to explore trade-offs between mechanical performance, environmental impact, and cost, while identifying Pareto-optimal solutions; • Comprehensive sustainability assessment indicators, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) metrics, enabling the incorporation of environmental considerations throughout the material selection process. Our results provide a reproducible and auditable decision-support framework for selecting biocomposites in production tooling applications, contributing to the development of more sustainable and data-driven manufacturing systems.
