Thinking about a calcium scan and wondering if it's right for you? This one's worth a watch. In part three, Sven Jaeschke, D.Phil. explains who it's designed for: adults between 40 and 75 with no symptoms, sitting in the uncertain middle on cardiovascular risk. If your risk factors send mixed signals (cholesterol slightly elevated but everything else fine, or heart disease in the family with no other red flags), a calcium score can give you a clearer answer. Three groups don't need it: anyone with symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath, anyone with a known heart condition, and anyone under 40 with no risk factors.
