"AI agent" and "automation" get used like they mean the same thing. They do not. Automation follows a fixed path. If X happens, do Y. It is fast, reliable and blind to anything outside the rule you wrote. Good for invoice routing, data syncing, scheduled reports. An AI agent reasons through a task that does not have a fixed path. It reads a message, decides what it means, chooses which tool or step to use, and adjusts if the situation changes. Good for handling support tickets that do not fit a template, qualifying a lead based on how they actually answer, or making a judgment call inside a workflow. Most businesses do not need one or the other. They need automation for the predictable 80% of a process, and an agent for the 20% that requires a decision. Knowing which part of your workflow is which is the actual first step. Not buying a tool. aginyxsystems.com #AIAgents #Automation #EnterpriseAI #AgenticAI #Aginyx
