Adult Social work

An Indian seafarer Chetanveer Singh (Alex) who was a third engineer was abandoned on board a vessel in 2016 for over 4 years without food and wages by his employer. He reached out to ISWAN through the seafareHelp for assistance which ISWAN/NSWB did by providing him psycho social support through out his ordeal and also provided grant for his feeding. His case was referred to the necessary stakeholders for intervention and with the cooperation of all stakeholders concerned the seafarer was settled and repatriated back to his country Indian in February 2020 in which he was able to reunite with his family. The seafarer was highly grateful for the support of NSWB and ISWAN in his case. That a big thank you to ISWAN, NSWB PWC MEMBERS, ITF AND UNION for their support and making Alex repatriation and settlement a reality.
