Today on #ArtView: About: serge attukwei clottey is a Ghanaian contemporary artist known for transforming everyday materials into thought-provoking artworks. Living and working between Accra, Ghana, and Los Angeles, USA, his practice spans installation, performance, photography, and sculpture. He is the creator of “Afrogallonism”, an artistic approach that repurposes discarded yellow plastic jerrycans to explore identity, memory, consumption, and global trade. Artistic Style: Clottey’s work is bold, colourful, and deeply symbolic, often featuring vibrant yellow tones inspired by the plastic jerrycans locally known in Ghana as Kufuor gallons. He cuts and stitches these discarded containers into tapestry-like sculptures that explore waste, trade, migration, and sustainability. He also incorporates found materials such as jute sacks, tyres, and wood.
