Africa CDC hosted the second annual Continental Directors of Surveillance Forum, bringing together leaders from all 55 African Union Member States, alongside 34 Surveillance Focal Points, 15 Senior Laboratory Scientists, Regional Directors, and key partners. Partners included the ECOWAS Commission, Gates Foundation, World Health Organization , IOM - UN Migration, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), UK Health Security Agency, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , EU HERA, and the UN Environment Programme. During this forum, we launched: 1️⃣ Africa CDC Indicator-Based Surveillance Strategic Framework 2️⃣ Wastewater Environmental Surveillance (WES), a public health tool that tracks pathogens in sewage systems to help detect outbreaks early and enable rapid action. Africa CDC calls on Member States and partners to collaborate in implementation, invest in national surveillance capacities, and accelerate data sharing to ensure timely detection and response to emerging public health threats. #HealthSecurity #Surveillance
