The digital transformation agenda is central to stronger, more sovereign health systems in Africa. Under the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty (#AHSS) Agenda, Digital Transformation is Pillar 4 — a cornerstone for stronger primary health care, better health intelligence, and more trusted health systems. In Ethiopia, the launch of the Ethiopian Digital Health Network (EDHN) marks an important step in building the leadership, coordination, and shared vision needed to accelerate digital health transformation. As African Union Member States work toward 90% PHC digitalization by 2035, platforms like EDHN will be essential to align stakeholders, reduce fragmentation, strengthen communities of practice, and connect national efforts to Africa’s broader continental digital health vision. This moment is also timely, following the designation of H.E. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali as the African Union’s Champion for AI and Digital Health. What Ethiopia is advancing is national in implementation, but continental in significance. #DigitalHealth
