Africa Sports Ventures Group and African Sports Monthly jointly Celebrates Black History Month USA 2021 by Recognizing the Sporting Heroes and Icons of America. Today’s (Feb 14th 2021) Historical figure is Baseball Great, Richard Anthony Allen otherwise known as Dick Allen who was a seven-time All-Star that fought against racism on and off the pitch during the tumultuous years of the Civil Rights Movement (1950's & 60's). He was considered one of the best hitters to play for the Philadelphia Phillies. To honour him, the number 15 which he wore in his playing days was retired by the club.
