As part of our ongoing work to strengthen international collaboration in the energy transition, we recently welcomed delegates from the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore to our Melbourne office. Singapore currently relies on imported natural gas for around 90% of its power needs. However, like Australia, Singapore is navigating a significant energy transition and is exploring a range of pathways to diversify its energy mix, including increasing renewable generation and electricity imports from neighbouring countries. The EMA’s visit marked our first bilateral meeting since signing a Memorandum of Understanding last year. It provided a forum for us to discuss the shared challenges and priorities across both country’s markets, including: · The effects of the energy transition on power system reliability and security ·  Market design, pricing and managing volatility in high‑renewables systems ·  Network investment, constraints and cost recovery ·  The potential role of innovation and emerging technologies to support future system and regulatory decision‑making. This meeting provided a great opportunity to learn from one another as we work toward secure, reliable and lower-emissions energy systems, and to support ongoing cooperation between Australia and Singapore. Thank you to the EMA delegation for taking the time to meet with us and for the valuable and productive exchange. #InternationalCollaboration #EnergyRegulation #ASEAN #EnergyTransition
