At ADWEEK House: Cannes Lions, executives from GUT, Tombras, nice&frank, and Known explained how leaving holding companies helped them move faster and rethink the traditional agency model. nice&frank co-founder Laura Petruccelli said big agencies can be so slow that the “magic” fades, while Known CEO Kern Schireson said he no longer feels “hostage” to shareholder-driven structures, allowing ideas to flow more freely and lead to bolder work. Petruccelli also shared “The Tastemaker,” a meeting where teams show work outside a client’s category to better define the emotion they want to spark—and encouraged others to borrow it.
