𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕.𝗥. 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗸𝗮𝗿. ⚖️ On 𝟮𝟱 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟳, at Mahad, Raigad district, Maharashtra, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar led a 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘀𝗺𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶, an ancient Hindu legal text believed to date back over two millennia and followed in various forms for centuries. This was not an act of anger, but a conscious stand against a text that, in his view, sanctioned caste-based discrimination and denied dignity and equality to millions. The burning of the Manusmriti became a symbol of resistance against social injustice and a call for a new legal and social order built on equality, dignity, and human rights. Dr. Ambedkar believed that true freedom could not exist without social justice—and that laws must protect the rights of every individual, regardless of caste or status.
