IT’S NOT THE ANSWER THAT ENLIGHTENS, BUT THE QUESTION. I’m indebted to copywriter Dave Harland, who commented “Posting motivational quotes is lazy content, especially when most of them weren't even said by the person named." - Marie Antoinette.  Thanks Dave. “IT’s NOT THE ANSWER THAT ENLIGHTENS” sounds as if it might be Albert Einstein - but it’s not.  (“Imagination is more important than knowledge” and, ” If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough” are attributed to him though, almost certainly correctly.) In fact, it’s a quote from Eugene Ionesco - not a physicist or philosopher but a Romanian/ French playwright who contributed to theatre of the absurd. (And I’m indebted to a creative director for reminding me: thanks Dan Nelken).  Framing questions effectively is part of what I do. I undertake qualitative research (focus groups, senior exec interviews, thought leader interviews, stakeholder interviews, workshops, policy labs). I also do secondary (“desk”) research (competitor, demographic, economic, GIS, market, regulatory, political, social) for business planning, feasibility studies and market evaluation.
