Jax, a retired Belgian Malinois who served Fullerton Police Department for seven years, has died after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away on May 19. Jax retired from active duty in 2022 after an exceptional career alongside his handler Corporal Scott Flynn, with whom he continued to live in retirement. During his service Jax helped officers locate more than 170 pounds of narcotics. He was also a beloved community ambassador, participating in events including the Special Olympics and demonstrations at the Fullerton Citizen Police Academy. In 2018, Jax inspired the creation of the Fullerton Police Canine Association, a community-funded organisation established to support the medical care of retired police dogs. Local residents and businesses donated to fund his cancer treatments in his final years, giving him additional time surrounded by the family who loved him. Fullerton PD paid tribute to Jax, describing him as a teammate, protector, and family member who was a good boy to the very end.
