Prototyping is how Nike thinks. The Air Lab at Dropcity made that process public. During Milan Design Week 2026, five abandoned railway tunnels behind Milan Central Station became a working laboratory built around fifty years of Air technology. Nearly 100 never-before-seen prototypes, industrial machinery, hands-on workshops. The material history of one of the most recognisable design innovations in sportswear, laid out in a former freight depot. What separated it from a standard brand exhibition was the permanence. From this autumn, Nike's equipment joins Dropcity's public workshop facilities, accessible to any designer.
