Until posting workplace ID cards gets someone into serious trouble, some employees won't learn. πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ I said what I said. Every other week, someone gets a new job and suddenly their workplace ID card becomes public property. Face visible. Employee number visible. Barcode visible. Company details visible. Everything is visible. And before anybody starts, yes, I know you're excited. I know the job market is not smiling. I know that after months of applications, assessments, interviews, rejections, ghosting, "we'll get back to you", and fasting and prayer, that ID card feels like a trophy. But let's be sensible. πŸ“’ If you won't post your NIN slip on LinkedIn, why are you posting your workplace ID card? If you won't upload your passport data page, why are you uploading another document designed to identify you? If you won't share your ATM card details, why are you exposing information that was never meant for public consumption? I understand you want to give us the tea. But why are you giving us the recipe too? And before someone says, "It's not that deep." That's exactly what people say before something becomes that deep. ❗️Those employee numbers, barcodes, QR codes, access details and internal identifiers are not there for aesthetics. They're there for a reason. The scary thing about oversharing is that nothing usually happens immediately. That's why people think it's harmless. Nobody touches a hot stove and says, "Maybe it's hot." The lesson comes after the burn. Celebrate your job. Celebrate your promotion. Celebrate your growth. But stop posting workplace IDs like they're graduation certificate. Some things are worth protecting. I am Aderonke Agunbiade, The Gen-Bridge HR, who brings values and vibes to workplaces with no generation left behind. 🩷 P.S. Some of you cover your pots of soup better than you cover sensitive information online. P.P.S. The goal was to announce your new job, not conduct an information giveaway. If you won't post your NIN or passport data page online, why is your workplace ID card different? Why?
