Addressing global energy poverty and insufficient gas-to-power generation is vital for development and economic growth, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. According to the World Bank, 655 million people globally lack access to electricity, with Sub-Saharan Africa representing about 85% of this deficit. In resource-rich countries like Nigeria, the shortfall in gas-to-power infrastructure is particularly troubling. Nigeria possesses over 210 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves, yet chronic underinvestment, payment shortfalls throughout the value chain, and government-imposed pricing caps have led to the underutilization of most thermal power plants. Instead of being converted into electricity, significant amounts of this gas are flared, forcing millions to rely on costly, polluting diesel or petrol generators. Our objective is to ensure that the nation's energy transition roadmap effectively addresses these challenges. #gastopower, #Renewableenergy #PresidentialPetroleumReform #Taskforce #Energytranstion #gastopower #LPG #CNG #climateaction #PIA2020
