As part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum 2026, Acwa and the Foreign Investors Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted an Energy Sector Business Breakfast, bringing together government officials, international investors, energy companies, and development partners to discuss the future of Uzbekistan’s energy industry. Opening remarks were delivered by Umid Mamadaminov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abid Malik, President of Acwa Central Asia, and Aziz Gafurov, Head of the FIC Secretariat. The discussion was moderated by Golib Kholjigitov, Director of Government Relations for Uzbekistan at Acwa, and focused on energy market reforms, renewable energy development, infrastructure modernization, tariff policy, and investment opportunities. Umid Mamadaminov spoke about the ongoing transformation of Uzbekistan’s energy sector. Abid Malik highlighted the growing role of digitalization and artificial intelligence in the industry’s development, while Aziz Gafurov emphasized the importance of effective public-private partnership in supporting sustainable growth and attracting long-term investment. The event also featured insights from international energy expert Dr. Shihab Elborai, who shared his perspective on Central Asia’s growing role in the global energy landscape. Among the participants were representatives of the National Agency for Energy Efficiency, led by Director Sherzod Khodjaev, as well as representatives from DataVolt, Deloitte, EBRD, Asian Development Bank (ADB), EDF power solutions, China Energy Engineering Group Co. Ltd., EY, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Sojitz Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Voltalia, Cengiz Energy, and other organizations.
