Cocaine and its metabolite (benzoylecgonine) clear rapidly at first. This is followed by a more prolonged tail of low urinary concentrations. A significant observation from the Journal of Analytical Toxicology is that cocaine levels reach below 150 ng/mL in urine within an estimated 2-4 days.    The problem with typical presumptive testing (preliminary screen) detection cutoff levels of 150 ng/mL is that they miss recent cocaine use.
