I have known Ivan Duškov since our time at the University of Oxford, so I read this interview with particular interest. As Director General of the Czech Republic's largest public health insurer, he makes a thoughtful case for moving the conversation beyond financing illness towards cultivating health. That is no small ambition. #Prevention is inherently difficult to measure, politically harder to sustain, and yet central to the long-term #resilience of every healthcare system. While many discussions of "longevity" become distracted by consumer trends, Ivan's focus is on a more fundamental question: how can public institutions encourage healthier lives at scale through evidence-based prevention and better incentives? That is a conversation well worth having. An important contribution to a discussion that extends well beyond the Czech Republic.
