Having the goat maternity ward up by the house has been surprisingly cathartic. Our former porch goats, the bottle babies Daisy and Poppy, have officially graduated. Thanks to their Nofence collars, they’re now with the main flock, or, like at the beginning of this clip, off doing their own thing and happily slurping up the red clover that’s already taking back off just a week after the first hay cutting. Meanwhile, the babies have completely taken over the old chicken coop. Dotty, who is mom of one of them, has somehow appointed herself head of daycare. She keeps an eye on all the kids, then chirps at their actual moms like, “Come get your child.” That coop has a story of its own. We built it years ago from freshly milled oak wood. A couple of years ago, a massive walnut tree came down on it and did some serious damage. There’s something poetic about a walnut tree taking down an oak building. That little coop was the gateway into this whole farming journey, and somehow it’s still at the center of the story. The song absolutely slaps, too. I’m hobbling around this week, so CapCut ’s auto cut is doing more of the heavy lifting than I am. #InItTogether❤️🩹 #FarmDifferent
