41 years ago today, July 13, 1985, singer Phil Collins and his wife Jill Tavelman checked their watches at London's Heathrow Airport. Collins boarded a Concorde and flew to the U.S. for a Live Aid benefit concert in Philadelphia after playing the London stage the same day. Collins performed at London's Wembley Stadium that morning, both solo and as part of a reunited Led Zeppelin set on drums, before catching the supersonic Concorde flight to Philadelphia, where he performed again at JFK Stadium and played drums for a reunited Led Zeppelin set there as well. The feat made him the only performer to appear at both Live Aid venues on the same day, and remains one of the most talked about logistical achievements in rock concert history…
