πŸŽ‰ Our open-access paper on the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM), "Volume variation reduction in PFEM using indicator function-based element filtering and barrier contact," is now available online : https://lnkd.in/dHTJtVzQ πŸŽ‰ To reduce volume variation in PFEM while using unconstrained re-meshing algorithms, we proposed a four-step pipeline: ➑️ An efficient filtering algorithm to classify newly generated mesh elements. ➑️ A dent correction routine to improve mesh-surface representation. ➑️ Mesh optimisation combined with controlled element removal to limit mesh volume gain. ➑️ A barrier contact model to avoid volume variation arising from fluid–wall interaction. Special thanks to Alessandro Franci for the valuable feedback during the Particles 2023 conference and for sharing data from his benchmark study. Finally, I would like to thank my postdoctoral advisor for his guidance throughout this work, and my supervisor for his support. Below is the simulations of dam break with sharp obstacle example. Other free surface flow examples from the paper can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dh2d6Ksq
